9 Delectables Snacks from the 80s We Still Crave Today

Hot pockets are a super convenient take on one of the most popular foods of all time. A microwavable version of pizza was more than radical enough to win over the 80s. In addition to the traditional garlic crust and pepperoni original, a multitude of flavors have been released since 1983. 

Doritos are an addictive tortilla chip that continues to release new flavors to this day. Back in the 80s, we were all about the cool ranch variant that accompanied the standard nacho cheese flavor. The crispy chips and bold flavors make Doritos a fine snack regardless of which bag you choose.

Keebler dominated the 80s with a mix of delicious confections and desserts. Of their classic line, we can’t help but love the Vienna Finger Vanilla Cookies the most. Similar to Oreos, these treats feature a decadent white creme sandwiched between two sweet biscuits creating a satisfying blend of textures.

Snack packs became huge in the 80s due to the convenient size and form factor. These small tubs of vanilla pudding were perfect for grabbing some sustenance on the go. The creamy and smooth vanilla pudding is effectively paired with a number of other treats, such as plain sugar cookies. 

If you were hoping for a slightly healthier option, look no further than Welch’s Mixed Fruit Snacks. These gelatinous sweets look like classic fruits such as oranges, strawberries, and grapes. Each one contains fruit flavor, and a variety of vitamins typically found in the real thing.

Although being called a nerd was not cool in the 80s, that didn’t stop the Wonka Candy company from rising to prominence. These tangy hard candies came in dual flavor packs, such as the grape and strawberry assortment pictured here. These candies are highly addictive, and the small size makes it even easier to keep chowing them down. 

Pilsbury came out with many delectable products in the 80s, yet the Toaster Strudel line remains the standout by a mile. These pastries were often frozen for long-time storage and can be quickly thawed with a toaster, microwave or air fryer. While Strawberry was the original flavor, there are now dozens of variants to try out.

SuperPretzel Frozen Soft Pretzels were another snack that leveraged the microwave fad with great success. In just 30 seconds, the kitchen could be immersed in the tantalizing aroma of warm bread. These pretzels were pre-baked and ready to eat, so the convenience made it a favorite after long days at work.

Hostess Pudding Pies are for when you don’t care about choosing a healthy snack. These pies are filled with either chocolate or vanilla creme that melts in your mouth with ease. Pudding pies proliferated in the 80s because they were simply too tasty not to indulge in every once in a while. Today, it is just as satisfying to dig into one.
