Actor Barry Keoghan (Saltburn) has been cast as Ringo Starr, one of the world’s most famous drummers, in the much-anticipated forthcoming Beatles biopic.

Ringo Starr himself revealed the news in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, saying he thought it was “great” that Barry Keoghan had been chosen to play him.

Ringo Starr also revealed that Keoghan is currently taking drumming lessons.

Director Sam Mendes, famous for his films American Beauty (1999), Skyfall (2012) and 1917 (2019), among others, is currently working on four Beatles films, one for each band member: Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Ringo Starr and George Harrison.

Each film will tell the story of a member of the group, adopting the point of view of each, which will undoubtedly bring a unique and personal touch to the life of each member of the most famous group on the planet.

Remember that Barry Keoghan, a 32-year-old Irish actor, is renowned for his standout performances in films such as Dunkirk (2017), The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017) and Saltburn (2023). He’s undoubtedly part of a shortlist of in-demand male actors, as his career continues to go from strength to strength.

He will soon be starring in Crime 101 alongside Chris Hemsworth (Thor), currently shooting, as well as in the much-anticipated Peaky Blinders film, based on the hit series, alongside Cillian Murphy (Oppenheimer), due to start shooting shortly.

Apart from Barry Keoghan, no other actor has yet been chosen to play the Beatles.
