The trial of actor Gérard Depardieu on assault charges, originally scheduled to open on October 28, has been postponed by a judge to the spring of 2025.
The delay
The court have granted a six-month delay, requested by the actor’s lawyer, due to serious health problems…

…which would prevent him from attending his trial and sitting for more than six hours a day.
Heart problems?
His lawyer said Depardieu suffers from heart problems and complications linked to diabetes.
Medical and psychiatric expertise
The lawyer for one of the two alleged victims has demanded that medical and psychiatric examinations be carried out on the actor to determine whether he is really fit to stand trial.
Two women
The 75-year-old actor is accused of assaulting two women, allegedly on the set of the film Les Volets Verts in 2021.
