The opening of the BFI London Film Festival 2025 attracted a constellation of stars and designers to celebrate cinema in all its forms. Among the most eagerly awaited on the red carpet were Mila Kunis and Daniel Craig, reunited for the world premiere of Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, the latest installment in Rian Johnson’s investigative saga. Here are the best shots from the red carpet.
Mila Kunis
The That ’70s Show star plays local police chief Geraldine Scott in Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.
Daniel Craig
Daniel Craig reprises his iconic role as Benoit Blanc, the famous private detective with eccentric charm and an inimitable southern accent, inspired by classic detectives such as Hercule Poirot and Sherlock Holmes.
Kerry Washington
Kerry Washington, star of Little Man and Shadow Force, plays Vera Draven, a lawyer in the film’s universe, with a prominent role among the story’s star-studded ensemble.
Josh Brolin
Josh Brolin plays Monsignor Jefferson Wicks, a charismatic and authoritative priest at the heart of the religious community around which the plot revolves. In several interviews, Brolin has described his character as a “not very sexy priest” (humorously, in contrast to other contemporary portrayals) and admitted that the role – a mix of prestige, mystery and heavy moral responsibility – scared him a little.
Glenn Close
Glenn Close plays Martha Delacroix, a very devout and faithful church lady within the local ecclesiastical community.martha Delacroix is described as a figure close to Monsignor Jefferson Wicks – his moral and spiritual “right-hand man” – which places her among the central suspects in the investigation.
Daryl McCormack
Daryl McCormack plays Cy Draven, an aspiring politician. His character is linked to Vera Draven (played by Kerry Washington) – presumably a member of the same family – which places him at the heart of the web of relationships and suspicions that structure the film’s mystery.
Cailee Spaeny
The singer and actress from the film Alien: Romulius, Cailee Spaeny, plays the role of Simone Vivane, a disabled former cellist.
Andrew Scott
Andrew Scott plays Lee Ross, a best-selling author whose motives seem ambivalent. His role is among the many suspects Benoit Blanc must interview, and his character seems to be one of the key elements in the suspense surrounding the investigation into the case of Monsignor Wicks.
Greta Gerwig
A renowned film director, Greta Gerwick ‘s credits include the $1.4 billion Barbie movie.
Rian Johnson
The film’s writer-director is back at it again, with another potential hit title, like the first two installments in the franchise.
