“TACO”: Trump snaps at a reporter for “nasty question”

Donald Trump is accused of always “chickening out” on the tariff issue by Wall Street pundits and analysts, which visibly annoyed him when a reporter had the audacity to relay this information to him in a press conference. “I didn’t chicken out on tariffs,” he began.

The heated exchange took place at the White House, where Jeanine Pirro’s was sworn in as Acting U.S. Attorney.

A CNBC reporter asked him if he wanted to respond to the acronym TACO, recently popularized among financial analysts to denote his tendency to back down in his tariff war.

Trump was visibly taken aback by CNBC reporter Megan Casella, when she asked him about the phrase “Trump Always Chickens Out” and its acronym TACO.

She wanted to know what he thought of this new expression and acronym used by some analysts to explain why the markets no longer react to his tariff threats, convinced that he always backs down in the end.

Reacting defensively, Trump got carried away and replied to the journalist when he finally understood the meaning of the question, a few moments later, by asserting that his actions were part of the Art of the deal, by setting the tariffs high to scare people… thus confirming the veracity of the expression.

Clearly annoyed, Trump concluded his response by calling the question “nasty“, categorically rejecting the idea that he might have chickened out. Nasty is a term he likes to use when a hard question comes from a woman. The segment, live, quickly went viral, propelling the acronym TACO on socials. TACO is likely to be around for a while now, after this question became instantly part of the history of Donald Trump’s second term.
