Trump’s surreal 40-minute music-listening session at a Town Hall continues to generate reactions
Stephanie GauthierInstead of answering questions from the audience, Trump preferred to listen to songs such as Y.M.C.A, Ave Maria, Hallelujah, Nothing Compares 2 U and November Rain.
The reasons
Donald Trump’s Town Hall-style event in Oaks, Pennsylvania, attracted attention, but not for the reasons he wanted.
His mental capabilities
Following two medical incidents at the event, one of which prompted Trump to suggest that heat-induced unconsciousness might help one of his struggling supporters lose weight, his strange behavior at the resumed event raised questions about his mental capabilities… less than a month before the election.
A strange turn
This remark gave a strange turn to the rally, which took an even more unexpected turn when Trump, who was due to resume the Town Hall, instead of taking questions from the audience, stood for 40 minutes listening to music, leaving many in the room perplexed.
His song
Trump seemed visibly confused when the evening’s moderator, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, asked him if he wanted to listen to his song before leaving. In the video of the event, he is seen asking “what song” it was, before finally declaring that he was going to take questions.
Some music
However, after a few moments, he finally changed his mind and asked for more music, including Y.M.C.A., Ave Maria, Hallelujah, Nothing Compares 2 U and November Rain, before… leaving!
January 5th
Donald Trump also urged his supporters to vote “on or before January 5”, even though the presidential election is scheduled… for November 5.
Signs of confusion
For several weeks and months now, many people have been pointing out that Trump is showing signs of confusion, raising concerns about his mental health during his election campaign. Many doubt his ability to manage a country, particularly given his refusal to take part in a second debate against rival Kamala Harris, his absence from key interviews and his reluctance to answer questions from his own supporters.
His medical records
In addition, more than 230 doctors and medical professionals have asked Donald Trump to release his medical records, despite his claim that he is in better health than Kamala Harris, who has just released her medical tests and is in perfect health. Donald Trump commented on the event on Truth Social, saying it had been a fantastic evening. Barack Obama, meanwhile, was quick to mock the incident during a speech, while the event is still generating reactions days later.
